2009年11月，中美两国退役高级将领在美国夏威夷、 华盛顿及纽约等多地举行了第二次会晤。美国国务卿希拉里在华盛顿与退役高级将领会面。
2012年， “三亚倡议” 会议在美国马里兰安纳波利斯举行。中美与会代表于美国海军军官学校合影。
2016年，“三亚倡议”在美国华盛顿举办。
