2009年11月，中美兩國退役高級將領在美國夏威夷、 華盛頓及紐約等多地舉行了第二次會晤。美國國務卿希拉里在華盛頓與退役高級將領會面。
2012年， 「三亞倡議」 會議在美國馬里蘭安納波利斯舉行。中美與會代表於美國海軍軍官學校合影。
2016年，「三亞倡議」在美國華盛頓舉辦。
