Opening Conversation / Opening
An opening exchange, bringing candid perspectives, sharp questions, and the morning’s central tensions into view.
The Honorable Tung Chee Hwa believed that tomorrow could be better than today—not by chance, but through the choices we make together. In the wake of his recent passing, this year’s U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum, the annual flagship event of the Foundation he established, carries that conviction forward at a moment of renewed urgency. Held in Hong Kong, the Forum will bring together leaders and institutions prepared to confront differences honestly. The aim is not easy consensus, but to preserve the possibility of a future advanced by shared leadership. This is the work in which Mr. Tung believed and the commitment we renew: to make tomorrow better than today.
