David Lampton is Professor Emeritus of China Studies at Johns Hopkins University, where he previously served as a Johns Hopkins Hyman Professor and the Director of SAIS-China and China Studies for more than two decades. He was also a Senior Research Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute, former Chairman of The Asia Foundation, and former President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR). He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, both an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer. Professor Lampton remains an active consultant for the government, businesses, foundations, and serves on the board of several NGOs, including the Executive Committee of NCUSCR.
