CUSEF Sponsors Former Mayor of Shanghai's U.S. Visit

On October 16, 2009, CUSEF sponsored the visit of Professor Xu Kuangdi, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Former Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Former Mayor of Shanghai to the United States, creating a key opportunity for the former senior Chinese government official to engage with American members of government, think-tanks, and the private sector.

During Professor Xu’s visit to New York City, he met with Former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger, Former Secretary of Treasury Mr. Robert Rubin, members of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Committee of 100 and media professionals. In Washington D.C., Professor Xu met with Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA), Congressman David Wu (D-OR) and representatives of think tanks. In addition to these interactions, Professor Xu also delivered a keynote speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and visited the campuses of Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), where he met with Yale President Richard Levin and MIT President Susan Hockfield.
