Pacific Community Initiative

On October 6, 2016, CUSEF announced its participation in the Pacific Community Initiative at the founding ceremony of Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). CUSEF Chairman Mr. Tung Chee-hwa shakes hands with Dr. Kissinger at the ceremony.
The multi-country research project "Pacific Community Initiative," led by Professor David Lampton of the SAIS and Professor Wang Jisi of Peking University, completed its Phase One study in 2020. Phase One study established the framework for a Pacific Community, assembled a network of scholars from the U.S., China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, New Zealand (and Japan and Korea joining in early 2021), and produced a research report: The U.S. and China in Asia: Mitigating Tensions and Enhancing Cooperation.
