Inaugural Journalism Student Delegation to China 2016

For the first time in 2016, CUSEF organized a delegation of eleven students from Graduate School of Journalism of the University of California Berkeley to visit Beijing, Kunming and Shanghai from December 2016. Since this initial delegation, CUSEF has expanded this program to bring students from the top U.S. graduate schools of journalism to China for 10-day immersion experiences during which they meet with government officials, private sector leaders, think tanks and NGO researchers, representatives from the U.S. and Chinese media, as well as professors and students from Chinese universities. In addition to formal meetings, the students explore cultural sites and attractions such as the Forbidden City, Great Wall, the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Museum and Pearl T.V. Tower. Both the meetings and sightseeing provide opportunities for delegates to gain a better understanding of the development of China and its society through direct conversation.
