2015 Johns Hopkins SAIS Student Visit: Exploring China's Economy

In August 2015, Johns Hopkins SAIS students visit the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
In August 2015, Johns Hopkins SAIS students visit Heishan Valley in Chongqing.
In August 2015, Johns Hopkins SAIS students visit the suburbs of Chongqing to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dazu Rock Carvings.
In August 2015, Johns Hopkins SAIS students visit the Chongqing Economic & Technological Development Zone.

The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) welcomed 14 students from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) to China from November 17 to November 29, 2015.

During the visit, the Johns Hopkins SAIS student delegation visited three cities in China, Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai. The trip focused on China’s financial and economic development. In Beijing, the delegation visited the Translation and Compilation Bureau, Tsinghua University, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, Chinese Institute of International Studies and Ministry of Commerce. In Chongqing, students visited Heishan Valley, Dazu Rock Carvings and Liangjiang New Area. In Shanghai, they visited Shanghai Institutes of International Studies, Prologis and American Chamber of Commerce and Huawei.

Students thought that the trip has enabled them to have candid conversation with influential Chinese scholars and enriched their understanding of the Country. They all agree that the trip was a valuable learning experience, especially for those who hope to play a future role in the China- US relations.
