U.S.-China - China’s New Economic Plans: Implications for China, Asia, and the Global Economy

Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China's National People’s Congress Fu Ying is in conversation with Jeffrey Lehman, Vice Chancellor of NYU Shanghai, and former U.S. Ambassador to China Stapleton Roy at the US-China Forum 2016 at NYU.

Collaborating with the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) cohosted a U.S.-China Forum titled “China’s New Economic Plans: Implications for China, Asia, and the Global Economy”. The forum focused on economic issues concerning the two countries, with an emphasis on “One Belt One Road (OBOR)”. This topic is of huge interest to the American audience, especially those who are anxious of China’s economic slowdown. CUSEF invited former Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission Prof. Liu Mingkang as the keynote speaker of the forum. Prof. Liu has extensive knowledge and experience in the banking industry of China and provided valuable insight on the 13th five year plan and the OBOR. The keynote speaker is complemented by other senior ex officials and economists such as Former US Trade Representative Ms. Carla Hills and the Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics Mr. Nick Lardy as panel speakers.

The forum took place on March 29th, 2016 with an attendance of 200 people from a variety of fields, including: students, academics, think tank scholars, congress and corporate persons.
