The Forum

The annual U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum, initiated in 2019, is a landmark event of the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF). It has emerged as a leading global conference, supported by a coalition of heads of state and government, and leaders from business and civil society, with a focus to major issues such as the economy, international security, artificial intelligence, and people-to-people diplomacy.

U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2024
The 5th U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum themed "Reflection and Forecast" was held on Novermber 15-16, 2024. China’s Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng and U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns opened the Forum via video messages. This year's forum came just weeks after the U.S. presidential election and on the cusp of a new administration, setting the stage for critical dialogue on the future of the bilateral relationship.

U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2023
The 4th U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum themed "Change and Progress" was held on November 9-10, 2023. The Forum featured opening remarks by dignitaries from China and the United States, including video messages from China's Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng and U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns. Two Nobel Laureates, President José Ramos-Horta of East Timor and economist Muhammad Yunus joined the Forum via video.

U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2022
The 3rd U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum themed "Beyond Differences, Towards Cooperation" was held virtually on January 19-21, 2022. World leaders, senior officials, scholars and business leaders gathered virtually to urge reconciliation and cooperation between the two largest economies on important global issues. Former heads of state attending the ceremony included Mary Robinson of Ireland, Goh Chok Tong of Singapore, Jean Chretien of Canada, Yasuo Fukuda of Japan,Helen Clark of New Zealand, and Vice Premier of China Zeng Pei-yan.
U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2021
The 2nd Hong Kong Forum themed "U.S.-China Relations: The Way Forward" was held virtually on January 26-28, 2021, after a challenging year in which the world was tested by the impacts of COVID-19. More than 40 past and current major stakeholders and influencers gathered virtually over three days, including former prime minister of Japan Yasuo Fukuda, CCIEE Chairman and former Chinese vice premier Zeng Peiyan, former prime minister of Italy Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chretien, and former U.S. secretary of commerce Carlos Gutierrez, etc.

U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2019
On July 9-10, 2019, CUSEF and CCIEE co-hosted the inaugural U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum themed “U.S.-China Trade & Economic Relations: What Now, What Next.” Three former heads of states—Jean Chretien, Yasuo Fukuda and Goh Chok Tong—former prime ministers of Canada, Japan and Singapore respectively, and a host of senior diplomats, government officials, business leaders and renowned scholars of different countries attended the forum.
